About goalswitch
There is nothing to sign up for at GoalSwitch. It is a savings goal calculator, it does one thing — works out how many months a savings target takes, the monthly deposit needed to hit a deadline, and the interest the plan builds — and it gives you the answer without first asking who you are.
Why GoalSwitch exists
There is no shortage of personal-finance tools online; what is scarce is one that respects your time. GoalSwitch is deliberately narrow — it works out how many months a savings target takes, the monthly deposit needed to hit a deadline, and the interest the plan builds and stops there. A small, honest tool beats a sprawling page that buries the answer under advertising.
How the maths is done
The whole calculation is client-side JavaScript. What happens is this: it solves the savings-goal equation both ways — for time given a deposit, and for deposit given a deadline — while compounding the balance monthly at the rate you set. Because the method is published here, any disagreement you find can be traced to a particular step instead of being blamed on a black box.
Where your data goes
Nothing you enter is transmitted. Your goal amount, deposit and interest rate are handled by the page on your own machine, which is why GoalSwitch has no server-side copy to lose, leak or hand over — and why it still works once you go offline.
Who this is for
- someone weighing up two offers.
- people working towards a savings target.
- readers who check the calculation rather than trust it.
How this stays free
GoalSwitch costs nothing to use, and the hosting is paid for by advertising. That advertising is kept separate from the calculation: it cannot see what you type and it has no influence on the result.
